urpentine Oil (Lab Grade) is a high-purity, volatile essential oil distilled from the resin of pine trees, primarily composed of monoterpenes such as α-pinene and β-pinene. It appears as a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic strong pine-like odor. Due to its purity and consistent chemical composition, lab-grade turpentine is commonly used in laboratories as a solvent, reagent in organic synthesis, and cleaning agent for removing oil-based residues from glassware and equipment.
It has a boiling point ranging between 150°C and 170°C, a density of approximately 0.86–0.87 g/cm³ at 20°C, and is insoluble in water but miscible with alcohols, ethers, and other organic solvents. Lab-grade turpentine is highly flammable, and proper safety precautions—such as the use of gloves, goggles, and ventilation—must be taken during handling. It is typically packaged in amber glass bottles or sealed plastic containers, available in volumes such as 100 mL to 5 liters, to protect the oil from light and oxidation.
